The daily schedule for clients is highly structured. This facilitates the development of self-discipline and new routines conducive to a recovery lifestyle. All clients are expected to actively participate in a program of physical activity and nutrition. We offer daily access to a full-service fitness facility. Clients are involved in volunteer activities in the community. Volunteer activities include mentoring programs in the local elementary school where clients assist children of various ages with their learning skills. The facility also takes part in the "Adopt-a-Highway" program in the state of Arkansas. These activities increase a sense of altruism that has been found to be an essential resiliency skill for adolescents. All clients participate in an academic program tailored to meet their individual needs. Our classrooms include a computer lab with internet access. The on-site teacher is accredited in the state of Arkansas and acts as a liaison for programming and credit issues. Clients are also offered the option to partake in GED preparation work should they choose not to pursue a traditional diploma course of work. Clients attend psycho-educational process and support groups daily to address their substance dependence, its impact on their life, the lives of family members, and the underlying thought process associated with their addiction. Twelve-Step groups have a long and successful history in the field of Chemical Dependency. Clients begin the process of integration into the 12-Step recovery community through meeting attendance and requirements related to step work and obtaining a sponsor. "Recovery Weekends" further assist the clients to adopt a recovery lifestyle and develop social/leisure skills compatible with a drug-free way of life. Families of clients are expected to be actively involved in the treatment process. Family involvement is individualized for each client. Hazel Street is a non-smoking facility. All clients are offered a smoking cessation program designed to meet their specific needs. |
